Agustín Pizá and the New Architecture of Wellness in Golf: Innovation, Purpose, and the Future from the 2025 AEGG Congress

When a creator speaks from vision rather than technique alone, the conversation transcends the expected. That was precisely the case at the 2025 Congress of the Spanish Association of Golf Club Managers (AEGG), where Mexican architect Agustín Pizá, one of the most influential voices in contemporary golf course design, shared his philosophy with more than 250 industry leaders.

With that statement, Pizá opened a powerful conversation about wellness, sustainability, and the sensory evolution of golf.

During his presentation, Pizá introduced the core concepts that are reshaping how golf experiences are conceived and delivered:

Wellness Golf®

A model in which design becomes a catalyst for wellbeing, integrating nature, mindfulness, and multisensory activation into the golf experience.

Multipurpose Golf

A vision that transforms the golf course into a flexible, socially relevant, and economically intelligent environment—capable of diversifying both its use and its impact.

Butterfly Golf®

Pizá Golf’s signature concept, reimagining playability, flow, and spatial efficiency to open the game to new audiences and evolving behaviors.

Pizá also spoke about his involvement in TGL, the innovative platform redefining how golf connects with new generations through advanced technology and immersive formats. This intersection between sport and digital innovation aims to attract audiences seeking more dynamic, engaging, and accessible experiences.

The AEGG Congress brought together golf club directors and managers from across Spain, all open to new perspectives on design, sustainability, and the future of the sport.

For Pizá, the experience held special meaning. His family name originates from Mallorca, close to the congress location, adding a personal layer to the visit.

Pizá expressed sincere appreciation to those who made his participation possible:

  • Alberto Talavera, General Manager of AEGG
  • Eduardo Ruiz Méndez, President of AEGG
  • Mauricio Marín, Managing Director of Meliá Villaitana

He also thanked Hotel Meliá Villaitana for its exceptional hospitality and for the opportunity to experience its impressive 18-hole Nicklaus Design golf course, an ideal setting to reflect on the present and future of the sport.

With academic training in Mexico and Scotland, and as a member of EIGCA and ASGCA, Agustín Pizá has built a global reputation for rethinking golf environments.

His work spans more than 80 projects across three continents, and his achievements have been recognized by leading international publications:

  • Forbes Mexico: Top 100 Inventive Minds
  • Golf Inc.: Top Innovators & Visionaries
  • Sports Illustrated: Top Golf Course Architects to Watch

He also serves as Director of First Tee Mexico, expanding access to the sport for future generations.

The Future of Golf: Creative, Sustainable, and Deeply Human

Agustín Pizá’s participation at the AEGG Congress 2025 confirms that the golf industry is ready to embrace a broader vision—one where courses inspire, experiences heal, and spaces evolve with intention.

His message resonates powerfully within the wellness ecosystem:
the design of the future is not only functional—it is emotional, sensory, and conscious.
