Hotel Lürzerhof Redefines Alpine Wellness with a €10 Million Expansion

Nestled in the heart of the Austrian Alps, Hotel Lürzerhof has announced the most ambitious transformation in its history. With an investment exceeding €10 million, the family-owned alpine resort is set to unveil, in July 2026, a striking expansion that goes beyond adding space, redefining what high-altitude wellness can be. Two new floors, exclusive suites, an adults-only spa sanctuary, and a cantilevered infinity pool poised above the valley mark a new benchmark for alpine wellbeing in Europe.

The expansion introduces two entirely new levels rising above the existing structure, forming a contemporary architectural crown that contrasts elegantly with the traditional Stammhaus below. The concept was brought to life by Köck + Bachler, acclaimed for crafting emotionally resonant hospitality spaces across the Alpine region. The design reflects the Habersatter family’s philosophy: honoring heritage while embracing a confident, forward-looking aesthetic.

The new fourth floor features eight refined accommodations [six expansive suites and two luxury rooms] ranging from 28 m² to 130 m², with terraces of up to 107 m² and uninterrupted views of the Radstädter Tauern Mountains. Natural oak, textured stone, and warm metallic accents create an atmosphere of understated sophistication. Considered details, spa-inspired bathrooms, freestanding tubs, and sculptural lighting, transform each room into a place of restoration.

Select suites elevate the experience further with private panorama saunas, outdoor whirlpools, dedicated fitness corners, and even private cinemas, while family suites comfortably host up to six guests. Several units can be combined, offering flexible retreats for extended families or groups seeking a truly immersive alpine escape.

The new fifth floor, spanning approximately 900 m², is conceived as an adults-only haven of calm and architectural daring. Its centerpiece is a 19-meter cantilevered outdoor infinity pool, heated year-round and dramatically projecting beyond the building’s footprint. Suspended between peaks and valley, it delivers a near weightless swimming experience and is destined to become one of Austria’s most iconic wellness features.

At the heart of the level, a glass atrium floods the space with natural light, showcasing a living installation of alpine botanicals beneath a circular skylight. From here, guests move through a curated sequence of heat experiences: Finnish and Organic Panorama Saunas, an Infrared Salt Dome, and an Aroma Steam Bath, complemented by Panorama Relaxation Rooms and an intimate Tea Lounge. Sculptural lighting and bespoke metalwork give the spa a gallery-like presence, where design and wellbeing merge seamlessly.

On the ground floor, the spa reception has been completely redesigned to offer a generous, light-filled welcome. Expanded wellness reception areas, an intimate lounge, new treatment rooms, and spacious changing facilities allow for early arrivals and late departures, maximizing time dedicated to wellbeing. A seamless vertical connection links guests effortlessly to the new wellness crown above.

“This expansion is not just about adding space, it’s about elevating the entire wellness experience and making a clear architectural statement,” says owner Harald Habersatter. “We wanted something deeply rooted in our alpine surroundings, yet unmistakably contemporary.”

Sustainability remains central to the project. As a climate-positive resort, Hotel Lürzerhof generates more than ten times its own energy needs through on-site hydroelectric power. The new construction integrates green roofs, energy-efficient glazing, and responsibly sourced materials, demonstrating that environmental stewardship and luxury hospitality can thrive together.

To complete the expansion, Hotel Lürzerhof will close from April through July 2026, reopening at the end of July with its enhanced offering. Bookings for summer 2026 are now open.
Rates from €191 per person per night, based on double occupancy with Gourmet Pension Premium.
